VI. I interviewed two individuals to see what their response would be to my (our) plan. Their responses are as follows.
My sister who is 23 years old said that our proposal to eliminate wellfare was not good and that wellfare helps a lot of people who a poor and need it. She based her beliefs primarily on the people she knew who were young and had kids that needed government help because they did not graduate high-school and try hard to get a job. Her boyfriend was also the same way because of his life where he grew up in neighborhoods that were primarily the poor working class.
My mom said that the poor deserved to be poor and that working hard for money is the key to a better job and that I should work hard to become someone when I grow up. She has a rather old world style of thinking because of her hardships of coming to America when she was a teenager.
VII. My (our) answer, based on our research, to their objections and concerns are
That welfare should still be eliminated even though the poor will be left to their own devices and may crash and burn. My coleage is opposed to anything less than eliminating wellfare and my other coleages do not seem to side with my objections. Athough I do not fully support eliminating welfare, it would be in the government's interest to do so.
